Now that Nebraska has hosted Transfer Portal Drew Fielder, it appears their direct competition for the stretch four player has materialized. Having just finished his trip to Lincoln, he's spending part of the weekend checking out Big Ten rival Washington.
According to insider Sam Kayser, it appears as though the battle for Fielder will come down to the Huskies and the Huskers. Unfortunately, if the coveted forward wants to stay around the Pacific Northwest, UW is very obviously the move. However, if he wants to go to a better program, NU would be the draw.
This battle will also be a great indicator of just where Nebraska stands when it comes to its NIL money this offseason. It's clear the Huskers are hoping to land Fielder, and they should have more assets at their disposal, especially coming off the school's first-ever Sweet 16 season.

Nebraska basketball may be battling Washington for Boise State transfer Drew Fielder
Fielder averaged 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists last season. He shot 54.7% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc. The Huskers could use a big man inside, and Fielder certainly fits the bill. He measures in at 6-foot 11, 225 pounds.
Before spending this past season with Boise State, he spent two seasons at Georgetown, where he made an impact immediately. He appeared in 32 games as a true freshman with two starts, then started all 31 contests as a sophomore. The good news is that it's clear he doesn't have deep roots around Idaho and Washington.
For now, there isn't a consensus leader for Drew Fielder. However, it also doesn't appear he's got any other visits scheduled, which could mean Nebraska will win another recruiting battle as soon as Monday.
