The Nebraska baseball team pulled off a come-from-behind mid-week win over Kansas State on Tuesday and in the process, might have given themselves a chance to get into Regionals without needing to win the Big Ten tournament.

The idea of being an at-large team seemed rather ridiculous for most of the second half of the season as thing quickly headed south and the Huskers fell well below .500 on the season. However, with the victory on Tuesday night, Will Bolt’s squad can officially start dreaming about sneaking into the postseason even without a miracle run like they pulled off in 2024.

Nebraska baseball gains momentum — and RPI — as postseason hopes rise

The Nebraska baseball team has jumped up to No. 63 team in the RPI ratings following Tuesday’s rally. That’s a five spot jump and reflects the highest they’ve been in the RPI rankings since mid-February.

The rest of the season is where things get interesting. Sitting at 22-23 overall and 9-12 in the Big Ten, the Huskers next take on Minnesota this weekend in Lincoln. The long and short of it is that NU has to at least take the series against the No. 95 Golden Gophers, if not find a way to pull off a sweep.

Should they do that, conversations get real as No. 55 Indiana got an at-large bid a year ago. Nebraska baseball at the moment is still a team that needs to get some help and pull off as many wins as possible. The good news is that the Huskers are playing their best baseball of the entire season.
