The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team looked like it was about to lose its third straight against Kansas State on Tuesday night. And then Gabe Swansen strode to the plate. The man who tends to play his best ball in the late season when games are on the line, drilled a three run double with two out in the bottom of the ninth to get the win.

The win was big, not just because it allowed the Huskers to get revenge against the Wildcats but it keeps NU alive when it comes to hoping to get a postseason birth. It’s possible of course that NU will win the Big Ten tournament again like last year.

If they don’t however, the Nebraska baseball team got a big boost in its RPI, and with the five spot jump is now as as high as it’s been since February. The Huskers sit at 63. Last year, No. 55 Indiana got an at-large bid. They’ll need to keep going, but they’ve got a shot.

Former Nebraska Cornhuskers transfer finds a new team

There was a time when it seemed like Arik Gilbert’s career was over. He hasn’t played in a college football game since 2022. But he’s looking to get his career off the ground again.

Gilbert is now a member of FCS level Savannah State. If he can finally put all his problems behind him, he’s got the physical skills to be a real contributor and could even see his NFL chan ces get a lift. Granted he’d have to really keep his nose clean for that to happen.

Keeping CJ Bronaugh

It’s been a little while since the Nebraska Cornhuskers got a commit. Now it looks like they might be losing one that’s been a member of their 2026 class for quite a while. Matt Rhule is going head to head against his former defensive coordinator Tony White in trying to keep defensive back commit CJ Bronaugh in the fold. The Seminoles are going hard after the young player.
