This week, Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule made sure to give back to some of his team's biggest supporters.
Rhule and athletic director Troy Dannen visited the Nebraska Cornhuskers' marching band at one of its practices. To give back to the group that supports the football team every weekend, Rhule bought 300 burritos for the band members.
Nebraska football coach gives back
Thankful @UNLBands allowed Coach Rhule and me to come to practice this morning to say thanks for their hard work and great performances thus far this season. Coach even bought breakfast burritos for all 300! GBR! pic.twitter.com/DYb3yuEpNw

Yes, you read that correctly, the Cornhuskers' football coach bought dozens and dozens and dozens of burritos to make sure that the marching band was well fed, and well aware of his appreciation for the group.
The band is in the stands for every Nebraska home game and makes at least one trip with the team for an away game against a conference opponent each season. Simply put, the marching band is one of the most consistent fans of the football program.
This Saturday, the Cornhuskers are taking a road trip to Maryland to take on the Terrapins in their third conference matchup of the season. While the band hasn't shared if they will be making the trip with the team or not, the support is clearly mutual.
After the conference expansion, Nebraska and Maryland didn't play last season. The last time they faced each other, during the 2023 season, the Terps eked out a 13-10 win over the Huskers.
So far this year, the Cornhuskers have gone 4-1 overall and 1-1 against Big Ten opponents, with a nail-biting loss to the then-No. 21 Michigan Wolverines and a dominant win over the Michigan State Spartans last week.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, Rhule and the Cornhuskers are scheduled to kick off against the Maryland Terrapins at 2:30 p.m. CT, and the game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
