The final buzzer has sounded, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers are now celebrating as if they have won the National Championship, but actually, it is just their first round game. The emotions come from years and years of disappointment in the tournament, but now the Huskers are victorious and are moving on for the first time ever.
Head coach Fred Hoiberg just did what he set out to do when he took the coaching job back in 2019, and it has to feel so good. Hoiberg has ties that date back a long time at Nebraska, and now he has a chance to continue making history with the Huskers.
When Nebraska started this season, the Huskers set out to finally get that first NCAA Tournament, and now that they have, Hoiberg knows that it doesn't end here.
"We're not satisfied, I can promise you that," Hoiberg told Andy Katz on the sideline after the win. "We are a group that all year long, we have been able to put things behind us, but this is emotional, there's no doubt about it."

Nebraska has the chance to continue making history with each NCAA Tournament win
The greatest thing about winning the first game in NCAA Tournament history is that every win after this continues to be history for the Huskers. Hoiberg knows that the job isn't finished. He adn his team didn't set out to win just one game, but are ready to go on a deep run that could shock many.
Hoiberg loved seeing Husker Nation show out big time in Oklahoma City, and it certainly seemed to help fuel the guys on the court. Hoiberg's son, Sam Hoiberg, talked about the emotions behind this win, but now the tough part is taking those emotions and quickly getting ready for the next game.
Nebraska will only have one day to turn around and get ready for its next opponent, which will either be Vanderbilt or McNeese State. The Huskers will continue to have the support of Big Red Nation behind them as long as they are in OKC, and they plan to be for a while.
