Matt Rhule has kicked off June with one big interior offensive lineman commitment. It appears as though he’s about to grab another one, considering that Mississippi prospect Hayden Ainsworth just shut down his recruitment.

The 3-star prospect out of Biloxi is just the latest Husker target that came and camped in Lincoln recently and was blown away by what he saw. While he’s not claiming that what he saw was the reason for shutting down his commitment, it certainly looks like he saw all he needed when he looked closer at the Cornhuskers.

Hayden Ainsworth pegs Nebraska as leader after canceling trips and locking in June 20 commitment date

Aisnworth is one of several players planning on announcing their commitment on June 20. It's certainly interesting why that date has become the drop-dead date for so many. Perhaps it’s as simple as being almost exactly six months from when they can sign on the dotted line and officially join programs like Nebraska football.

Ainsworth is 6-foot-5 and weighs 305 pounds. He holds offers from across the South, including Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, Oklahoma, and more. Ultimately, his decision comes down to the Cornhuskers and the Wolfpack.

On that note, the Huskers are in good standing. He took an official to the Wolfpack on May 30 before hitting Lincoln last weekend. He was planning a trip to Liberty starting today, but nixed that when he shut down his recruitment.

Over the last five days, analyst predictions have been pouring in on Ainsworth, and to a man, those predictions have swung towards Nebraska football. On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Chad Simmons, Sean Callahan, and even Billy Embody (an Ole Miss analyst) have picked the Huskers. Likewise, over on 247 Sports, Brian Christopherson picked NU. It appears the hunt for Hayden Ainsworth is almost over, with a week to go before decision day.
