Not only might the Nebraska football get one of the best quarterbacks in the transfer portal, but they might also land a top WR.

By now, most Husker fans have heard the rumors that former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord is eyeing Nebraska pretty hard. On Friday, he was even given an official offer. That certainly felt like a step towards the program bringing in one of the top transfer quarterbacks in the portal.

In fact, at this point, rumors of McCord being a Husker are old and busted. The new hotness is that he might be bringing one of his top targets with him.

Not long after McCord entered the portal, wide receiver Julian Fleming did the same. Coming off a 26 catch season for 270 yards, it wasn’t a spectacular season for Fleming, but there’s reason to believe he’s got better in him.

In 2022, the WR had 34 catches for 533 yards and 6 touchdowns. Those are numbers that Nebraska football faithful would love to see from a wideout in Lincoln.

Rumors have swirled around X that Fleming and McCord are indeed interested in being a package deal for the Huskers. If that does end up being the case, it would be quite the rebuild of an offense that struggled this past year.

Nebraska football looking for package deal

For now, everything, including Kyle McCord coming to Lincoln is still just buzz. Nothing is official yet. Certainly nothing is official with Fleming.

However, dominoes are starting to fall all over college football. On Friday, another Nebraska football target in Blake Shapen pulled the trigger for Mississippi State.

It would seem that he might have gone with the Bulldogs in part because the Cornhuskers believe they have their man.

With Dillon Gabriel committing to Oregon, it seems like everything is starting to shake out. Here’s hoping Nebraska football gets its package deal before the weekend is out.
