Amid the flurry of Nebraska football players who entered the transfer portal, punter Brian Buschini wanted to make sure fans know he’s not going anywhere.

Nebraska football fans are dealing with a bit of whiplash with the departures of Casey Thompson, Ajay Allen, Logan Smothers, and others. The good news is those same fans don’t have to worry about the Huskers needing a new punter.

There was a period of time on Sunday when fears that Brian Buschini might be on his way out, peaked. That’s because on fan noticed the starting punter was listed as being in the portal by On3.

However, when she took to social media to ask about the entry, Buschini wasted little time shooting it down before the rumors got rolling.

"“Definitely NOT transferring! It’s a glitch with the system. I love it here! GBR.”"

Husker fans could hardly be blamed for getting a bit nervous considering they spent the week watching a running back expected to compete for a starting job and the starting quarterback entering the transfer portal. They also watched likely starting defensive tackle Stephon Wynn decide to play elsewhere.

It wasn’t out of the possibility that the starting punter might also be a roster casualty. Though it’s certainly good that Special Teams Coordinator Ed Foley managed to hang onto Buschini.

Nebraska football fans were quick to express their relief and celebrate the announcement.

“I was genuinely so shocked,” the original poster wrote. “My stomach just DROPPED when I saw it.”

“Frick I was going to say you’re the most non-Nebraska stud I’ve never met!” Another fan wrote. “Thank god this was false. #18 GBR4life”

With the transfer portal closing on Sunday night, the Nebraska football team roster looks to be nearly set. Husker fans should certainly be happy that the roster will include Brian Buschini.
