The Dylan Raiola soap opera that has been twisting and turning for Nebraska football fans for months might have taken another turn on Sunday night.

This particular turn, if it turns out to be true, might be a bad one. Though it’s worth pointing out that the Nebraska football team has seemed behind the eight ball before when it comes to Raiola only to find a way to jump back into the lead of the pack once again.

Previous turns, like when Nebraska football fans were convinced Dylan Raiola was headed to Georgia took place in December and January. It now seems as if the Bulldogs might be a distant third or even fourth place when it comes to who might land the Chandler, Arizona quarterback.

The latest turn comes from the recruiting experts at 247Sports. Those experts believe that after his weekend visit to USC, the quarterback has a new favorite. After originally thinking that Nebraska football might not be really threatened by the Trojans, it looks like they’re indeed a threat. That’s according to Steve Wiltfong, Blair Angulo and Greg Biggins, who seemed to have talked amongst themselves and either Raiola or someone close to him.

If there’s any reason to really despair about where the Nebraska football stands in this recruiting cycle, it’s that Wiltfong has picked USC. He’s currently sitting at 100 percent accuracy when it comes to his picks. So are Angulo and Biggins, though they’ve made far fewer Crystal Balls this year than Wiltfong and his 65 CBs.

There might be a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel for Nebraska football fans who might be worried. While all three experts entered their CBs in the matter of 15 minutes, none of the trio are all that confident. Picks for Raiola to the Huskers that have been entered in the last few weeks are actually higher. Wiltfong, Biggins, and Angulo are all giving their level of confidence at a six.

Mike Schaefer recently picked the Huskers with confidence of seven while Ryland Spencer is about as confident of the Raiola to Nebraska pick.

It’s possible that the three Crystal Balls in favor of USC is less about being confident that the quarterback is heading to the Trojans and more that Dylan Raiola is going to commit … somewhere soon. Hopefully, that’s still the Nebraska football program.
