Nebraska football might have its own little civil war in the Shanle family
Former Nebraska football players Andrew and Scott Shanle have voiced very different opinions about new Huskers head coach Matt Rhule.
Some Nebraska football fans might remember that back when Matt Rhule was hired as the new head coach at the end of November, a vocal group on social media was unhappy about the decision.
That unhappiness seemed to be coming from people like Scott Shanle, who didn’t believe that Rhule had the pedigree to be the Huskers’ head coach. One of his Twitter posts claimed that he’d talked to someone in the NFL and that there wasn’t much respect for Rhule in that particular coaching fraternity.
Scott Shanle was, in fact so strident in his dislike of the fit for Nebraska football that he caught quite a bit of flack from his Twitter followers. Part of that flack was also born from the fact that he spent a great deal of time immediately after Rhule got to Lincoln, making his opinion very clear.

If Scott Shanle is still angry about the new head coach and the state of the Nebraska football program, it would appear his brother doesn’t share that opinion.
Nebraska football has its own Civil War with the Shanle family
Scott’s brother Andrew Shanle took to Twitter over the weekend and in the process showed some love to the current Nebraska football staff.

The younger Shanle met with both Huskers CEO Susan Elza and wide receivers’ coach Joey McGuire over the weekend. Considering that Andrew is thanking the Huskers and the people who spoke on behalf of Rhule during a recent conference, it would appear he doesn’t have anything against the newest Cornhuskers’ head coach.
Having Andrew Shanle on Rhule’s side is far more important than having Scott in the long run. Andrew is currently the head football coach at Cypress Ridge High School. Considering the Huskers have made no bones about their desire to build a bridge back into Texas, have one of the school’s coaches being a former member of the Nebraska football team has to be a nice “in.”
