The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team is continuing to reshape itself under new head coach Matt Rhule. Staff changes and players have been coming and going since he first arrived in Lincoln.

There have been some other changes in the athletic department as well. Matt Davison was moved out of the AD and is now heading up a big NIL tied to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

And on Thursday, the reshaping continued with yet another member of the AD’s support staff moving on. Steve Sipple reported during the day that Kenny Wilhite has also left the program.

That means that one of the longest-standing members of the organization is moving on. Wilhite has worked for Bo Pelini, Mike Riley and Scott Frost. His run is apparently at an end.

One of Wilhite’s biggest roles with the Nebraska Cornhuskers was running the walk-on program. Now it’s time to wait and see what his departure means for one of the more beloved aspects of the program, historically.

Other Nebraska Cornhuskers news

  • Another former Scott Frost staff also moved on this week. Offensive analyst Steve Cooper – who some thought he might replace Mark Whipple during the season – has moved on. He’s been hired as the offensive coordinator for Maine. It will certainly be interesting to see what he does with that squad next year.
  • Some of the new Nebraska Cornhuskers’ coaches are going to be making their first public comments on Friday. Coordinators Tony White and Marcus Satterfield will give their first press conferences at 1pm on Friday.

Sports News

  • There’s been a ton of headlines about whether or not Jim Harbaugh might leave Michigan. On Thursday he took to Twitter to say that he was probably staying. However, it turns out that he’s being investigated by the NCAA for some recruiting violations. He’s also apparently lied to investigators. Thing could get sticky quickly.
  • Former Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman made it official on Thursday. He’s transferred to Notre Dame. That makes the Irish a dangerous team in 2023.
