When it comes to Nebraska football targets, there can be a ton of good and a ton of bad of being in the spotlight. On the one hand, Husker fans can make you feel like a kind as they celebrate every word you speak or post on social media. On the other hand, literally everything you say and do is going to be dissected by hundreds of thousands if not millions of people.

Malachi Coleman understands this better than some high school players. His social media presence is one that much older professional athletes should hope to emulate. And for the most part, when things seemingly start to go a little sideways for the Lincoln East star player, he gets a handle on it quickly.

Such was the case on Sunday afternoon when the Nebraska football target had to set folks straight on Twitter once again. You see, the young man had just finished up a recruiting visit to Colorado and it appears that more than a few Husker “fans” felt like that entitled them to accuse Malachi Coleman of bad-mouthing the Nebraska football program. The young man took to Twitter to set things right.

"“For those that are messaging me, no I have never spoke about Nebraska in a negative way nor will I ever. I respect the program and the people that are in it.”"

This isn’t the first time Coleman has had to fight off social media trolls since he became a household name among Nebraska football recruiting watchers. It’s also not the first time a member of his family has had to do it. His mother, Miranda Coleman, has had to remind people from time to time that when they’re obsessing over what a potential Huskers player, they’re almost always doing about in regards to a high school kid.

The bright side to this particular incident is that Malachi Coleman appears to be mature enough to not let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch (for lack of a better metaphor). As he said in his tweet he’s even still someone who holds the Nebraska football program in high regard, despite someone he considered a “father figure” being gone.
