You’ve heard me talk about him a lot this offseason and rightfully so. Scott is a running back who is thought to be a huge part of the Nebraska football running game. After receiving the several accolades in high school, he now brings his talents to Lincoln. How good is he? Just look at his high school statistics and his football beginnings prior to coming to Lincoln.

He was a five-year starter varsity player at Warner Christian Academy, making the team as an eighth grader. He would total 7,482 rushing yards and 80 touchdowns in his high school career. As a senior, he ran the ball for 1,477 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging 7.7 yards per carry. Simply put, is really good.
Now, he looks to enter a Nebraska football offense that is high- powered its own right. In that regard, Scott will certainly fit well in Lincoln. He is definitely going to be a physical running back, something that Nebraska football needs to have.
They definitely have speed backs, with Rahmir Johnson being an example of that. They undoubtedly need to have power backs, and Scott is definitely one of them. Measuring in at five-foot-nine, 200 pounds, Scott is incredibly strong and certainly fits the prototypical ground and pound running back.
Speaking on Thursday, running backs coach Ryan Held had high praise for Scott. Scott is undoubtedly going to be one of the running backs that is going to lead Nebraska football in the future. Held indicated that Scott was extremely physical.
"“He’s a guy that’s very physical. You can see in the different pictures probably out there. He tweeted out a picture yesterday. He looks like a senior in a freshman’s body right now because he’s paid the price in the weight room and really put himself in position physically,” Held said. “The biggest deal with him is I’ve just got to keep getting him going from a mental standpoint and footwork…”"
The fact that he may have some issues getting going mentally and footwork issues is a little interesting. Normally, you would expect to have a running back that is proficient with footwork. Nevertheless, if he’s just one of those guys that can take off and run, and all he has to do is work on the finer points, then that is certainly encouraging. I certainly have high hopes for what he can do.
Personally, I think he’s going to be a red-zone touchdown guarantee. We’ll have to see what his role is going to be in this offense. One thing is for certain: Scott will undoubtedly make an impact.
