Nebraska Football has themselves a talented running back.

The Nebraska Football running back room is set to be extremely crowded next year. That is a good thing, as there is talent to be had throughout the position. One player in particular piques my interest. Marvin Scott III had a tremendous 2019 high school football season. As a result, he was given accolades for it.

Scott was named the Daytona Beach News-Journal’s offensive MVP. He ran for 1, 477 yards and 18 touchdowns in his senior season. He was a key part of the Spruce Creek High rushing attack, and now he will look to bring that explosiveness to Lincoln.  He committed to Nebraska on August 24, 2019. He signed with the program last week.

I’m excited for him to come here and I think he will be able to provide an impact right away. With how the running back room shakes up, there seems to be a lot of bodies. However, depth was a problem last season. Head coach Scott Frost gave Scott an endorsement last week when speaking to the media. It sounds like the way Frost is talking, Scott will have an opportunity to come in and compete right away.

I like the sound of that. There is tremendous talent to be had in the running back room, and the best player should be on the field. Last year, Wan’Dale Robinson came in as a freshman and was perhaps the best running back on the field. When push came to shove last year, it didn’t matter if the best Nebraska running back was a freshman or an upperclassman. Scott Frost and his coaching staff played them right away.

As I wrote about in July, Scott is a physical running back. He does a nice job of bouncing outside and that is something Nebraska Football struggled with last year. If they can have a running back like Scott, one who is capable of going to the outside and making plays, that would be great. He is not the fastest, but he is a physical runner. In some ways, he is very much like Dedrick Mills. As Frost told the media, Scott is polished for a high school prospect.

"“Marvin Scott, I think, is as physically developed of a kid as we have in this class,” Frost said on signing day. “From a physical standpoint, I think he is ready to come in and play college football immediately. He’s really strong, really well-built, in good shape. I think he’s going to be ready to come and contribute and compete right away.”"

Nebraska Football is continuing to recruit the running back position heavily. That’s a very good thing as the running back spot is valued highly in the offense. I’m excited for Scott to come to campus. I too think he will be able to make an impact right away. He has a very good chance to be another win for a Nebraska Football program that has been on a tear over the last year or so in recruiting.
