Jack Stoll

Jack Stoll did not really need to have a good spring ball. After all, he was the starting tight end last year and that should not change in the coming season. He showed a bit of what he could do in 2018, as he proved to be a dependable target. Hopefully, he can carry that momentum with him into the fall.

If anything, the backup tight end spot gained a little bit more clarity. Katerian  Legrone emerged as someone the coaches really liked. That was perhaps one of the biggest questions coming into this spring in terms of the tight end position: Could  the Nebraska Football program find depth at tight end? I think the answer is “yes.” As long as Legrone can continue to develop, there should be no reason why he shouldn’t be a valuable second option at tight end. This was more of a spring where he had the chance to shine.

As long as Stoll can continue to develop, he should be fine. There was really no pressing need for him to perform well during spring practice. I’m not saying that he coasted through it or there were no improvements. He is just in the position where he does not need spring ball as he should already have the starting tight end position locked up.  I’m sure he did technique work and continued to show improvement on the field. Either way, the tight end position should figures to be a big part of the offense in the coming season.
