When Nebraska football target Breece Hall said he was going to commit soon, he meant it. Unfortunately, he chose a team other than the Huskers.

When Breece Hall named the Nebraska football team among his favorites, he made no bones about the fact that he was going to commit “next.” It’s still a bit surprising just how quickly “next” came.

Hall announced on Thursday night that he committed to Iowa State University. His decision to go with the Cyclones is surprising in some ways because he had offers from bigger and better schools.

Matt Campbell is doing great things in Ames, but ISU is still a school that is usually considered an afterthought when talking about the powers of college football. He had offers from Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan, and TCU in addition to Nebraska.

It makes sense Hall might look outside Lincoln, considering the school already has two commits at running back. Michigan already has one.

Hall is the first commit at his position for Iowa State. There’s no telling whether that really came into play when making his decision.

What is clear is that Hall liked what he saw when he visited Ames. He paid an unofficial visit to Iowa State just two weeks ago.

The announcement of the teams that had made his cut down was released about 10 days after that unofficial visit. The commit came four days later.

The running back out Kansas is certainly moving fast. Considered the fifth best player in the entire state by 247Sports, he’ll now apparently stay in Big 12 country.

Perhaps that played the biggest part in his choosing where he wanted to go. It’s also interesting to note that the Wichita star chose ISU over Kansas State. The Wildcats are still in search of their first running back commit of the class.

The good news, for the Nebraska football team, is that the loss of Breece Hall isn’t a huge blow. It’s onto the next target for Scott Frost and company.
