The Nebraska football might be entering its recruiting dead period, but it got some good news before it went.

Kevon Glenn picked the Nebraska football team as one of his favorites on Sunday night. The talented Georgia linebacker narrowed down his list to 11 teams.

That might seem like he isn’t narrowing down all that much until you take into account that he has 44 total offers. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the teams he named as finalists is that he’s got quite the smattering of small schools mixed in with the traditional Power 5 programs.

In addition to the Cornhuskers, Glenn named Georgia State, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Wake Forest, Texas A&M, Indiana, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech and Appalachian State among the teams he’s still considering.

When looking at that list, it’s impossible to know just where he might be leaning. Certainly there are two schools from his home state, but neither could be considered an automatic lock to get him.

The geography of the schools as a whole does show a lean towards programs south of the Mason-Dixon line, but there are two Big Ten teams on there, and Oklahoma State doesn’t really count as a “southern” team.

When a team got its foot in the door doesn’t seem to be holding sway either. Four of the team on the 11-school list offered Glenn relatively recently. The Huskers got on the radar in May, and North Carolina State did on the same day. Okey State offered later last month.

Getting on the list counts as a bit of a win already for the Huskers, who already beat out conference rivals, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Rutgers. Rated as the 30th best inside linebacker in the 2019 class by 247 Sports, it’s a safe bet the Nebraska football team would like to win this battle. Not only would they be getting a talented linebacker, but they’d be making more inroads in the state of Georgia.
