Recent Nebraska football commit Desmond Bland gets Mississippi State offer
No, Nebraska football fans, it’s not signing day yet.
The Nebraska football team has been on a recruiting roll lately. On Tuesday, Mississippi State’s offer to recent Cornhusker commit Desmond Bland reminded all of us that we’re far from the finish line.
Bland, considered one of, if not the top JUCO lineman in the 2019 class, announced his heart belonged to the Huskers on Friday. That announcement came shortly after a grad transfer commit from Vaha Vainuku to play on the defensive line.
Bland and Vainuku’s commitments, which came very close together through no apparent planning of the players apparently started a bit of a tidal wave for the Cornhuskers athletic program.
Not only did the football team add a couple of players on Friday, the baseball team got a JUCO transfer of their own in Aaron Palensky. Monday, the hype train just kept on rolling.

The Huskers got yet another commit, this time in the form of four-star quarterback Luke McCaffrey. Tuesday saw yet another commit, this one perhaps one of the biggest of the group in JUCO cornerback Will Jackson III.
Four commits to the football program in five days has Scott Frost and the staff on top of the world. Desmond Bland announcing he was offered by Mississippi State should be a little bit of a dash of cold water.
To be clear, Bland just got an offer. It’s not like Mississippi State agreed to stop recruiting anybody.
The offensive lineman hasn’t said he’s going to be visiting the Bulldogs. He’s certainly not said his heart belongs to anyone other than Nebraska.
At the same time, all the celebrating over a number of commitments, most who cannot sign on the dotted line for months will likely give way to anxiety over one recruit or another as we move through the calendar.

When it comes to Desmond Bland, Nebraska football fans will just have to cross their fingers and hope the recruiting dance is over for him.
