Nebraska football offers true 2020 dual-threat athlete
The Nebraska football team has offered a 2020 athlete that is not only a top prospect at quarterback but a 5-star prospect in basketball.
Nebraska football has been handing out a ton of new offers this week but one offer on Wednesday morning is getting more attention than most. Scott Frost and company offered up a roster spot to 2020 prospect Jalen Suggs.
On its face, the offer to Suggs shouldn’t be getting that much attention. Yes, he’s a talented dual-threat quarterback who is slated to be the best player in the state of Minnesota for the 2020 class.
According to 247Sports, that still only rates him as a 3-star prospect in the 2020 class. For football.
What makes Jalen Suggs really stand out, is that he’s a bit of a throwback type player. Not only is he one of the best quarterbacks in the entire 2020 class, he’s also one of the best basketball players in the entire 2020 class.

It turns out, as a matter of fact, that Suggs has been rated as a 5-star point guard. That’s where things get interesting and that’s where the recruitment of Suggs is going to only gain national attention as we move closer to 2020.
Rivals, has Suggs rated as the 5th best basketball player in the entire 2020 class. So the real question is going to be, can Scott Frost convince him not only to come play at Nebraska, but to play football at all.
When it comes to the football side of his recruiting, Jalen isn’t getting a ton of attention. Minnesota and Kansas, as well as Iowa State have offered before the Cornhuskers.
When talking about basketball, Kansas’ Bill Self, as well as Clemson, Baylor and Creighton are all recruiting him. Tim Miles has apparently not put the full court press on the point guard.

That’s likely been a triage situation where he knows it’s unlikely Suggs would pick the Nebraska basketball team over the big boys that have offered. Can the Nebraska football team joining the fray change that? Would Frost even want Jalen Suggs playing basketball? The 2020 recruiting cycle just got a lot more interesting.
