Former Nebraska football star Ndamukong Suh has a new player in the free agency sweepstakes, but it’s unclear just how much of a chance they have.

For former Nebraska football star Ndamukong Suh, the NFL free agency period has been quite the whirlwind. The former Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins player has been flying from one end of the country to the other talking to teams about possibly playing for them next year.

Now it appears one team that Suh hasn’t managed to visit yet has put themselves smack dab in the middle of the situation. According to new reports, the New York Jets might be making the biggest offer of any of the teams.

Now it’s about whether or not Suh is going to go where he can get the most money, or where he feels the happiest. During his travels, the frontrunners appear to be the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Rams and the Tennessee Titans.

It’s unclear which one of those three teams has been the odds-on favorite to land the defensive tackle. It’s also unclear just what the new offer from the Jets might do to his pick for the team.

More from Cornhuskers in the NFL

There were some who thought that Suh had landed on a team when he canceled a trip to see the Oakland Raiders. Of course, he canceled that trip before the Jets had made their offer, or at least their offer had been made public.

Now there are plenty of Jets fans who think landing the former Husker is a must. As the Jet Press points out, this is the kind of the move the team needs to make and if they do make it, they will become instant competitors.

Should Ndamukong Suh decide to go play in New York, he would at least be playing with yet another former Nebraska football star. Wide receiver Quincy Enunwa has become a fan favorite in the last few years. After missing last season due to injury, he’s likely going to be working hard to be an impact player for the New York Jets.
