Former Nebraska football star inducted into CFL Hall of Fame
Former Nebraska football star Barron Miles had himself quite a career in the Great White North.
While we’re talking an awful lot about former Nebraska football stars like Niles Paul and Ndamukong Suh making their way in the NFL, another former Cornhusker just got accolades for his accomplishments in a whole other league.
Barron Miles wasn’t able to catch on in the NFL. He spent just one season, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and he didn’t manage to log a stat. In 1998, he made the jump to the CFL and he found himself a home.
Miles made himself at home in the Canadian Football League to such a degree that it was announced on Wednesday night he was being inducted into that league’s Hall of Fame.
A look at his stats tells you exactly why the former Nebraska football star deserves the honor. After spending his college days playing for some of the best Husker squads in school history, he managed to win two Grey Cups and has the second most interceptions in league history.
Starting his career with the Montreal Alouettes, he played six successful seasons with that club. He then moved to the BC Lions and played five more years in the CFL.
It was with the Lions that Miles’ career went to the next level. That included 10 interceptions in 2006, as well as interception return averages of more than 20 yards.
2007 was a down year with just three picks, but he followed that up with 17 interceptions in his final two years in the league. Barron Miles also showed that you don’t have to go to the NFL in order to have a great professional career.
