The Nebraska football team was the latest school to offer Spencer Lytle.

Spencer Lytle is just the latest target in the Nebraska football team’s “Big Red Revival.” The 3-star linebacker tweeted as much when he announced a new offer from the Huskers on Monday night.

Interestingly, Lytle is yet another talented linebacker, as the 2019 football recruiting class has had a decidedly defensive bent of late. Out of California, Lytle has a massive 33 offers already, according to Rivals.

It figures there are so many schools after him, considering he’s considered the 22nd ranked linebacker in the class for Rivals and the 34th best linebacker according to 247Sports.  Both recruiting services have him inside the 60 best players in the state of California.

The offer to Lytle comes just a few days after the Cornhuskers made an offer to the best player in Mississippi. Also a linebacker, Nakobe Dean is in the top 10 players in the entire 2019 class.

Just yesterday, the Huskers also went after a two-way player out of California in Isaiah Rutherford. Rutherford appears to be someone the Huskers are looking at for a defensive back position, though he’s also been a very talented running back in high school.

Spencer Lytle is coming into his own as his high school career goes along. After seeing limited time as a sophomore, he had a dominant Junior season. The linebacker recorded 77 tackles (seven for loss) and three sacks. He also had one forced fumble and nine quarterback hurries.

It’s been clear that since Scott Frost and company took over at Nebraska they have been revamping the talent level at linebacker and defensive back. It certainly appears Lytle fits that revamped talent base.

The Nebraska football team certainly has an uphill battle to even win a visit from the linebacker. Interestingly enough, Lytle apparently has a good head on his shoulders as he also has offers from Princeton and Penn out of the Ivy League.
