The Nebraska football team has been focusing heavily on the defense in their last few offers. That continued with the Otito Ogbonnia, a defensive end.

Give credit to the new Nebraska football staff. They have clearly identified areas of weakness on this roster.

The last few scholarship offers that have gone out have been to defensive players and that trend continued on Thursday night. Defensive end Otito Ogbonnia announced on his official Twitter account the Huskers had made an offer.

Ogbonnia is playing at Taylor High School in Katy, Texas and is considered a three-star prospect by Rivals.  The Huskers are the first Big Ten school to give him an offer but he’s being pursued by other Power Five conference teams quite hard.

Notre Dame is going to be hosting the defensive end for a visit on January 19. Look for Nebraska to attempt to get him into Lincoln shortly after that.

It also appears the Huskers’ staff is doing a sweep of the Lonestar state these days. They recently went after junior college defensive back Kenneth George Jr.

While George is still relatively under the radar, it looks as if his prospects are going to be trending upwards as the 2018 recruiting cycle winds down.

The staff has been itching to get out on the recruiting trail hard in this final month period. Several coaches have started a kind of countdown as to when they can recruit in full once again.

If the Nebraska football team wants to pull in Otito Ogbannia, they are definitely going to have to overcome the regional bias. Texas Tech and Houston have already offered and other SEC schools are getting in on the big-time defensive end.
