The Nebraska volleyball team needs a win on the regular season’s last day in order to clinch at least a share of the Big Ten title.

With their straight set win over the Northwestern Wildcats, the Nebraska volleyball team looks like it’s going to end the regular season on a high note. One more victory, against the Iowa Hawkeyes would clinch at least a share of the Big Ten title.

The Penn State Nittany Lions and the Huskers are tied for first in the conference. The Cornhuskers hold the tie-break thanks to a win over PSU in their only head-to-head matchup of the season.

While the Huskers have just one more game, tomorrow against Iowa, the Nittany Lions will play two more matches. While Iowa is no pushover, it isn’t quite the competition that Penn State has left on its schedule.

The Wisconsin Badgers will attempt to play spoiler Friday night and that would give the Huskers the chance to win the conference title all on its own. Should the Badgers beat Penn State it would be quite a stroke of irony. Wisconsin is the only B1G team to beat the Cornhuskers this season.

Obviously, Nebraska would like to win the conference title on Saturday but that’s hardly the main goal of the season. The Huskers have a national championship run on their wish list. In order to do that, they would be greatly aided by a number one seed in the tournament.

At the moment, the Huskers are ranked fifth in the AVCA polls. That means they will likely need to sneak themselves into a top spot. It’s possible a conference championship, beating out Penn State could help them get it.
