Husker Recruiting: Spring Game Visitors

The Husker Spring Game is almost here.  So far over 65,000 tickets have been sold, and there will still be those who walk up and buy tickets the day of the game. It is obvious that Husker nation is excited to see the new look of the football team. It is not just the fans that are excited though, Husker recruits are looking forward to seeing exactly what Nebraska has to offer.

Besides some of the nationally recruited players listed on the recruiting  websites, there will also be a multitude of local Nebraska boys and a few out-of-staters who are not prominently touted on the recruiting sites, but are still very talented. Many of these players grew up loving the Huskers and have dreams and aspirations of someday wearing the Scarlet and Cream, while others are there to just take in the game and all the excitement that goes with it.

Think back to last season’s recruiting. There were a couple Husker Legacy recruits that never received offers, or it was too late when the offer finally came. Joe Burrow and C.J. Johnson Jr ring any bells? Well there will be another Husker Legacy at the game this Saturday, and yes, he is the son of National Championship team, Clester Johnson.

Bellevue West wide receiver Cade Johnson will be attending the spring game with his friend and  teammate,  kicker Chris Hahn. Hahn is looking to visit South Dakota State soon. Cade already has an offer from the Jack Rabbits. I am hoping Mike Riley sees something in Cade that those who know him already see. Personally, I hated losing C.J to Wyoming, and if the Huskers do not offer Cade, the Jack Rabbits, or another school will be getting a couple of great kids. There is still hope though!

Here is a list and the Rivals Recruiting Service star rankings of high school (HS) and Junior College (JUCO)* recruits that will be attending the Husker spring game:

There may be a few more recruits that end up coming at the last minute, but besides the named and the many unnamed recruits I mentioned above, these recruits will be taking in the game, and living the Husker Experience. If you see them at the stadium, give them a Husker fan shout out to let them know that BIG RED fans appreciate the visit.

Husker fans are remarkable in the way they treat the recruits. The young kids come away with a much greater respect for Nebraska and its fan base.  Go Big Red!
