Nebraska and Washington have a very competitive rivalry in the Tournament. (Nebraska leads series 3-2) Two of the most memorable games go back to 2005 when Washington defeated the #1 Huskers, claiming Washington’s first and only National Championship, and again in 2008. Huskers found themselves down two sets before their amazing comeback to win taking the next three sets to claim victory in 2008. John Cook called that victory the greatest comeback in Husker history. But it is not only the Nebraska and Washington fans taking note of this storied rivalry. Friday night’s game at 8:30 pm CST will be the first ever-regional semifinal to be televised to a national audience (ESPNU).

Nebraska has struggled at times during the season and it will not be easy to make it to the Final Four. But save the date: December 18th, in Oklahoma City. If anyone can coach their team in this monumental task ahead, John Cook it the right man for the job. Since becoming head coach in 2000, Cook and the Huskers have claimed two National Championships (2000, 2006), five Final Four appearances, and 15 overall tournament appearances. Some have claimed the Washington v Nebraska match could be as good as the National Championship game. ESPN seems to agree since this is the first time ever Semis have been televised. The Lady Huskers have earned every win and deserve their chance to make it to the Final Four, and beyond.
