Bo Pelini fired….now what….(and some updated answers)

facebooktwitterreddit

It’s done. It’s over. It’s time to search for another. ESPN and the University released their statement this morning. Who is going to coach the bowl game? [BARNEY COTTON] Why do it before then? Makes me think a deal is already done. What happens to faux Pelini? Where will Pelini land? I suspect he takes a year off before some other program picks him up. He doesn’t have to coach after receiving 7.65 million from the contract agreement. [READ HE HAD CHANCE FOR 500K BONUS STRUCTURE IF EMPLOYED IN 2015]

The tragedy no one is talking about is the kids. How do they respond to this disruption before the bowl game? Would you want to play without the guy who has been there to defend you all these years? [See Twitter…..WOW]

Will the new coach understand our philosophy? Will he understand our culture? Will he cheat or not put the players and their education as a priority? Will he make dirty deals to get kids and then pull scholarships last minute? Will our walk on program remain in force and a strong asset to the program?

At the end of the day do you know Eichorst well enough to trust in his judgment for a successor? I am not sure to be honest. I don’t know enough about him to make an informed decision. Doesn’t really matter, nothing I can do about it anyway except be a good fan and do my part to cheer on the Huskers no matter who they get.

What it does effect is the holiday buying season. That’s stupid timing. The economy of “Husker” gear flows as the program flows. This was evident during the Callahan years.  And to fire him before the bowl game leave things in serious question.  It’s not like my closet doesn’t already have a ton of red in it but it’s leaving the team without a leader….for now and for that I’m truly sorry for the kids.

Let the speculation of where the company jet is flying begin. I will miss Bo and his belief in the kids. I wish him well and will follow the news and keep an eye on him. Thanks Bo.

….PS- I really don’t care for Tressel and I don’t think Frost is the answer either.  It’s my two cents and about all it’s worth.
