Does Pelini stay or does he go? Shades of 2003

It was November 28th, 2003. The Huskers 8-3 Huskers traveled to Boulder Colorado for the final regular season game. There was a lot of controversy that season with a 17-point loss to Missouri and 24-point loss to Texas. Whispers filled the air all over Husker nation, was Solich a good enough coach to get us to the promise land? Husker nation was divided as others were saying that we just played for the National Championship two years prior and he was a consistent nine win coach (the benchmark for all Husker coaches to achieve). Nebraska won that day by a score of 31 to 22 and Frank Solich was ecstatic in the victory. The next day there was a press conference and Frank Solich was no longer the head coach of Nebraska.

Here we are, exactly 11 years later in the same situation. Nebraska and Bo Pelini traveled to Iowa to play against the division rival, the Hawkeyes. Like Solich’s last game, the Huskers prevailed, albeit a much closer one, and Bo Pelini once again gets his 9th win. Solich’s firing caused a lot of controversy across the nation. Many argued that you do not fire a coach with 9 wins. Well here we are again. Once again Husker nation is divided and ponders the question, should a 9-win coach be fired again? What kind of message does it send if Nebraska keeps him? What message does it send if they fire him.

It is a little different this time around as there are more Bo-leavers than Bolievers. Fans want to know, will there be a press conference soon by Athletic Director, Shawn Eichorst to tell us if Bo will stay or go? Don’t make us wait until after the bowl game Mr. Athletic Director. It’s time to step up and do the job you are being paid to do. As fans we have heard all the arguments for and against Bo, now it is time to decide, do we keep Bo or do we let him go. Inquiring minds want to know!
