The Nebraska football team got yet another commitment on Friday night. What does that mean for the Huskers and their 2019 recruiting class?

The Nebraska football team got yet another commit on Friday night in the form of Jamie Nance. The wide receiver out of Oklahoma is yet another talented addition to a recruiting class that is really picking up speed.

The Cornhuskers have reached a dead period this summer. That dead period is going to limit the number of offers they can parse out.

Not over until the end of July, that doesn’t mean nothing good can happen for the Huskers and their fans. Nance’s commitment is the one really good thing that has happened right after the dead period started.

Nance’s commitment offsets the loss of another target

The announcement of Jamie Nance comes one day after the Nebraska football team lost out on another target. Running back Breece Hall had the Huskers in his final list of teams.

It turns out that shortly after Hall announced his final list, he was ready to commit. Unfortunately, he ended up committing to the Iowa State Cyclones.

Hall’s commitment to ISU means that the Huskers are still stuck on two commits at running back this year. The good news is that he didn’t pick Michigan or Rutgers.

Should Hall turn into the kind of talent he looks like he could be, the Cornhuskers won’t have to face off against him, except in a possible bowl game.

Nance, on the other hand, is a big gain for a wide receiver class that has plenty of offers but not a ton of commits just yet. In fact, Nance is the first wide receiver that has committed in the 2019 class.

For the Nebraska football team, it’s officially onwards and upwards when it comes to working on that position group from here on out. Jamie Nance being in the fold likely helps more than hurts.
