It’s almost that time of year again as the Nebraska Cornhuskers softball season is coming to a close. Being one of the best teams in the country, it sure looks like the Huskers are at the very least, well on their way to making the regionals. After that they’ve got the horses that could get them all the way to the Women’s College World Series.

Nebraska has gone there eight total times which is a decent number. Even if NU hasn’t made it since 2013. But that begs the question, who has the most WCWS finals appearances?

Who has the most WCWS finals appearances?

The Nebraska Cornhuskers softball team certainly doesn’t rank that high. So who has the most WCWS finals appearances? As it turns out, it’s another one of the newest Big Ten schools.

UCLA leads the country with 31 appearances, followed by one former conference rival and one new Big Ten rival in Arizona (25) and Washington (15).

Unsurprisingly, the Bruins making the finals that often means they’ve also won it a ton. They lead the nation in that category with 12 WCWS wins. They actually had another one but it was vacated for various reasons.

The current version of the Women’s College World Series relatively new, having only existed in this format since 1982. And over those years, the championships have been dominated.

In all, only 13 teams have ever won the WCWS and three teams, UCLA, Arizona and Oklahoma have accounted for 28 titles among them. No other team has more than two.

The Sooners are on a four year streak of wining the title, but that’s where things get really interesting. While OU has obviously been to the finals more frequently than Nebraska softball, the Cornhuskers now have Jordy Bahl, who helped Oklahoma get that streak going.
