Never let it be said that the Nebraska football coaching staff won't go anywhere or do anything to haul in a top target. Take the stops the coaching staff is pulling out to grab the commitment of 4-star defensive tackle Valdin Sone.
Sone is an interesting story on his own, considering he's playing his high school days at Blue Ridge High in St George, Virginia, but he hails from much further away. Sone is originally from Sweden and is currently back home spending time with family.
Nebraska football goes all-in on 4-star DT Valdin Sone with overseas recruiting visit
That he was out of the country was no roadblock to the Nebraska football coach, Terry Bradden, who took a trip to Sweden to pay him an in-home visit. That he was willing to make a trip over to Europe just to spend some one-on-one time with the 6-foot-3, 316-pound defensive tackle didn't go unnoticed on social media.
The trip is crucial for the Huskers because they were just named among Sone's final eight schools, which he's still considering. Texas, USC, Auburn, South Carolina, Florida, and Oklahoma were on his final list alongside Nebraska.
The Cornhuskers have been turning heads on the recruiting front over the last few months, and it's clear they're willing to pull out all the stops. That kind of effort will have a direct impact on the defensive tackle prospect as he considers where he might visit this summer.
It's also the kind of effort that other recruits note when they see it on their social media feeds.
Matt Rhule and his staff have built a reputation as stars of the recruiting world, which will benefit the Nebraska football program for a long time to come.
