The Nebraska football team is moving closer and closer to opening up spring practice and while that mostly means that Husker fans should be pretty excited, there’s some unfortunate business to take care of first. More than a few Huskers, some of them brand new, will either be limited in spring practice or will be out entirely.
Head coach Matt Rhule met with the media on Tuesday morning and talked about a number of subjects just ahead of spring practice’s start. One of the subjects he discussed was that there will be 18 players that are either totally out, or “limited” in practice this spring.
Among the most newsworthy are wide receiver Demitrius Bell, who was injured during the spring game a year ago. Bell is on his way back, but apparently isn’t quite ready to start going through practices all the way. There’s also Dawson Merritt who is still recovering from a labrum injury that occurred in his senior season of high school.
Nebraska football has 18 players out or limited for spring practice
Merritt and Bell are just two of the nearly 20 players that aren’t going to be doing much of anything this spring. Husker fans will have to wait until fall camp kicks off at the end of July before there’s any hope of seeing either of them.
The good news here is that both are talented enough to make an impact once they actually start playing.

While Rhule wasn’t specific about everyone on this list, he did offer up that Prochazka, who has sadly been hurt for the most part of his Nebraska football career is only listed as limited but is basically out. David Borchers on the other hand is expected to be full go at some point in spring practice, but not at the outset.
