It’s the next day. The sun has come up. The birds are chirping. And yet, it doesn’t feel any better. The Nebraska football team still lost a game it could have won. Or at least taken to OT.
Yes, there is plenty of blame to go around for that loss. The defense continues to be shocking porous at times. Especially the secondary. The offense is still inconsistent as all get out. Even if Dylan Raiola and some other offensive teammates believe big improvement is right around the corner.
Nebraska football played far from a perfect game on Saturday. But everything, every single thing, was made harder by a Big Ten officiating crew that blew more than one rather obvious call. But it was the last blown call, at the end of the game, the non-called pass interference on Jahmal Banks. And when the clip is slown down, the non-call is even worse.
Nebraska football fans should be outraged over non-call
The clip slowed down shows not only that the USC defender had a fist full of Banks’ jersey, but that the Huskers’ receiver was very obviously janked backwards before the pass arrived.
That yank, getting pulled backwards, it might have been the difference between Banks getting in front of the defenders and making a tackle instead. And even if that pass was destined to be a pick. The refs cannot let that obvious a call go.
But they did let it go. Along with another blatant pass interference call earlier in the game (oddly also involving Banks) And now the Nebraska football team is 5-5 and its fans are wondering if it's going to be another season with no bowl game. And that should make everyone involved, furious.
