The Nebraska football team doesn’t seem to have a great shot at pulling off a win today against Ohio State. But those chances get a little bit worse if one of the Huskers’ top running backs can’t go.

Earlier in the week there was concern that Rahmir Johnson might not be able to play. Head coach Matt Rhule said that he’d gotten injured in the debacle that was the Indiana game. As it turns out, he’s out for the game for sure.

The Nebraska football running back had to exit last Saturday’s loss after recording only two carries for six yards and three receptions for 19 yards. For the season, the senior has recorded 38 carries for 153 rushing yards and made 19 catches for 165 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Rahmir Johnson Nebraska football injury update

On Thursday, Rhule confirmed that the Husker running back would not be available this weekend. Earlier in the week, he had been more optimistic about Johnson’s ability to play this Saturday, but the progress made during the week was not enough to be cleared for the game.

The big question now is just how long Johnson will be out. With Rhule hoping that Johnson could play against Ohio State, you would have to imagine that the injury will not be a long-term issue for the senior.

The worst news of all, of course, is that Rahmir Johnson has been plagued by injuries throughout his Nebraska football career. Finally healthy this season, he’d been showing what he was capabel of all along. For that reason, as well as the need for the Huskers to get at least one more win this season, we can all hope Johnson will be back next week against UCLA.
