One of the craziest things about being a Nebraska Cornhuskers fan is that, on occasion, it feels like opposing schools fear you more than the actual team. Historically, Nebraska football fans have drawn quite a bit of ire, mainly because of how well they travel.

Colorado has shown this off more than most as they went to great lengths to make sure Nebraska fans had problems getting football tickets in Boulder. However, now a Big Ten rival is following suit, only this time it’s not about football.

Nebraska Cornhuskers fans have bullseyes on their backs

The Washington Huskies, one of the newest additions to the Big Ten, seems to understand the work it has ahead of it keeping Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball fans out of its arena this winter.

In order to make sure that Huskies fans outnumber Huskers fans when NU go to Seattle, Washington has made it so that only season ticket holders or those who buy a ticket plan can buy single game tickets for volleyball matches.

In other words, if Nebraska volleyball fans want to go see the match against the Huskies, they’ll have to buy tickets to several other matches. This is a double bonus for UW because they might keep some NU fans away.

Nebraska Cornhuskers fans won’t be thwarted

If they don’t stay away, they’ll be spending some serious money in order to watch the Huskers romp in Seattle.

It’s worth pointing out that Washington was not particularly good last year. They posted a 16-15 record in their final Pac-12 season. Meanwhile, of course, Nebraska volleyball went to the National Title Match.

It’s also worth pointing out that there is almost no chance this gimmick will keep fans from going to the match. Nebraska Cornhuskers fans travel well and spending a little extra money isn’t going to stop that. Good try tho!
