While he had to miss spring practice, Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda is hoping he can make a big impact for the Nebraska football team this fall. Count his position coach, Garret McGuire among those who believes he will.

"Oh my gosh, he's attacked this rehab like no other." McGuire said during a recent radio appearance. The wide receiver coach also pointed out that IGC has added muscle and is up to 198 pounds. He’s also shown off serious speed,  and clocked more than 22 mph on the GPS.

The Nebraska football veteran has seen his Husker career marred by injuries. So far, so good as far as getting healthy and ready to go. It’s now just a few weeks before the Huskers will kick off fall camp. IGC is ready to do it.

“Another guy that we're going to be able to move all around the field because of just how well he knows this offense,” McGuire said. “And just the dynamic player he is that can do a lot of different things as a route-runner, as a ballcarrier, as a returnman."

During a Tuesday interview on the Huskers Radio Network, McGuire also sang the praises of several other receivers on NU.

In particular, he said he's really excited of what Jaylen Lloyd has built this offseason. "But now taking a real step of being a 3-down receiver, not just a package guy. He's really, really dove into the playbook and I can't say enough things about how well he's done with that. But then also he's tracking the ball at a super high level right now. He's making contested catches. He's got a confidence about him right now that's exciting to see."

Perhaps the guy that Nebraska football fans should be the most geeked up for is  Malachi Coleman. While he missed the spring with a shoulder injury, he took a lot of mental reps according to McGuire. "I want him to carry over the physical presence he had late in that season in that six-game stretch he finished for us. I think that can really take our room to the next step."
