'Very athletic' defensive back will have to adjust to Nebraska football ways

The Nebraska football team has a talented transfer in Ceyair Wright, but DC Tony White thinks there will be some growing pains.

When Ceyair Wright joined the Nebraska football team, there was no doubt that the Huskers were adding a very talented corner from USC. There is a “but” in this situation.

While the defensive back’s talent is obvious, there is a reason he decided to leave the trojans. There’s a reason that he went form someone Lincoln Riley thought was going to be a fixture in his defense, to Wright living in Lincoln.

During his pre-fall practice press conference, defensive coordinator Tony White addressed his thoughts on one of his newest weapons: Wright. He likes what Wright has to offer. However, he also made it clear that he thinks there’s a bit of a culture shock between what the defensive back was expected to deal with at USC and with the Nebraska football team.

White clearly didn’t want to have the player facing any kind of stigma, but considering how bad USC’s defense was in 2024, it’s hardly a shock that the Nebraska football culture on defense might be quite a bit different. Here’s hoping he can figure it out quickly.
