One ex-Commodore should be on the Nebraska Cornhuskers' radar
As the Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team prepares for a crucial 2025 season, the possibility of a game-changing player coming on board is a tantalizing prospect. The key to this potential coup lies in the hands of head coach Will Bolt.
It’s a rare and exciting opportunity for the Huskers to potentially recruit a member of the prestigious Vanderbilt Commodores. With one former Vandy player, Camden Kozeal, now available, it's a chance that head coach Will Bolt should not miss.
Why would Kozeal pick up the phone you ask? Because before he went to Vanderbilt, he played his high school ball at Millard South. It’s certainly possible he might want to come back home and help the Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team take the next step.
Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball could have in with Camden Kozeal
It’s not remotely hard to see why the Huskers would have an interest in Kozeal. The fact that he saw some serious playing time with one of the best baseball programs in the country is right at the top of the list as to why he’d be attractive.
In his first year with the SEC powerhouse, he suffered some injury issues but still managed to hit 291 with five homers and 28 RBIs. He also managed to get named the SEC Freshman of the Week for March 4 after leading all of baseball with 14 hits on the week.
Not long after Kozeal joined Vanderbilt, head coach Tim Corbin sang his praises:
“Cam comes us to with a mature offensive approach to hitting. It’s rare when you see young kids come into a program and own their process and intent…he does that. He is very serious and competitive with whatever he does. He can be found at the facility early or late. He’s a physical kid with very good defensive infield skills. I like where he is right now, and I believe he will impact the team, sooner than later.”
That sounds like someone I’d love to see on the Nebraska Cornhuskers next season.
