No QB1 despite Nebraska Football offense's ‘best day ever’

Nebraska Football had another major scrimmage ahead of next week's Spring Game and head coach Matt Rhule is quite happy with his offense.

Matt Rhule is legitimately excited to see what his Nebraska football team can do when the games count. That was quite obvious during his Saturday press conference following the Huskers’ second major scrimmage of the spring session.

He was incredibly bubbly because an offense that badly needs to produce in a big way in 2024 if the Nebraska football team wants to get back to a bowl game played very, very well in the scrimmage. In fact, Rhule said that the performance was the offense’s “best day ever.”

In fact, the offense was so good that the Huskers’ head coach made it clear that he’s almost certainly not going to be hinting at who will be QB1 until later in the fall.

That might come off as a bit of a joke to some Husker fans who have anointed Dylan Raiola the starter since he first landed in Lincoln. However, Rhule and the other offensive coaches have never made that claim.

In fact, if anything, the Nebraska Football coaches have been clear. They want Raiola, Heinrich Haarberg, and Daniel Kaelin to compete for the QB1 slot. It’s also clear that Rhule knows the fans want a starter to be named. And they want that starter to be Raiola.

Nebraska Football offense has its ‘best day ever’ in latest scrimmage

One of the comments Rhule made about how well the offense has played was the inclusion of one of the trio leading a 99-yard touchdown drive. The Huskers’ head coach wouldn’t say which one of the three did it.

You might think you can read into that and guess who did it. But the HC isn’t going to say.

The importance of the coaches being happy about how the offense looked seems real. Rhule, unlike his predecessor doesn’t tend to soft peddle. He won’t say the offense looked great if they looked mediocre. It’s high praise for a unit the Nebraska Football head coach needs tons of success.
