Newest Nebraska Cornhuskers guard out for remainder of summer workouts
As the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team ramps up for its post-NCAA Tournament season, it’s going to be down one more player. Already missing Rienk Mast for the 2024-25 season, the Huskers will be without Rutgers transfer Gavin Griffiths is out for the rest of summer workouts.
The program announced last week that sophomore guard Gavin Griffiths had a procedure on his right wrist this week that will sideline him for the final two weeks of summer workouts. The good news here is that it doesn’t appear he’ll be out any longer than summer workouts.
In other words, while Griffiths will miss several workouts with his Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball teammates, this isn’t expected to be something that will last into the regular season. In the long run, getting him right before his first season in Lincoln is for the best.
Nebraska Cornhuskers get injury news for rest of summer workouts
Griffiths, who is 6-foot-7 and was a top-50 recruit in the nation out of high school, averaged 5.8 points and 2.2 rebounds last season at Rutgers.
The former Rutgers Scarlet Knight was one of six players to join the Huskers via the transfer portal this spring and summer.
Griffiths not missing a ton of time and expected to be back in the fall is especially because of just how much the Nebraska Cornhuskers roster has changed. Head coach Fred Hoiberg is going to need to get as many practices together as they can possibly get in order to get back to the NCAA Tournament.
