Nebraska needs to get RB target 'in the boat' before the season - analyst
One of the weirder aspects of Nebraska football recruiting during the Matt Rhule era is that the program has had some trouble recruiting top-flight high school running backs. They didn't end up landing a single running back in the 2024 class out of high school after Kewan Lacy committed and then decommitted, eventually going to Ole Miss.
The Huskers, led by Rhul and his staff, are still in pursuit of a high school standout. The 2025 class could be the turning point, but it's crucial they act swiftly, as advised by one of the top recruiting analysts. The urgency of the situation underscores the importance of this potential recruit.
Nebraska football needs to get Jamarion Parker "into the boat" quickly
Enter former Arkansas running back commit Jamarion Parker. Nebraska has been one of the big players since the 4-star running back out of Cardinal Ritter College Prep in St. Louis became a free agent again.
There was a time when Parker's recruitment was moving apace. It was thought he would commit in the spring. And then things quieted down quickly. Suddenly, the Cornhuskers went from apparent front runners to a squad that could again lose out late on a talented back.
However, according to Rivals' Greg Smith, there is still time for the Cornhuskers to lock down Parker.
Smith appeared on the Inside Nebraska Recruiting Blitz podcast where he talked about what he thinks Rhule needs to do to get Parker to commit.
"There are teams that are going to continue to kind of sniff around," Smith said. "The one thing that I would watch though on this one is, I don't know his timeline right now. I'll reach out and ask. But the one thing is, if I'm Nebraska or any of these schools right now pursuing him, I don't want him to get to his senior season uncommitted, right? I think you want to push to get him committed, in the boat, and feeling as comfortable as possible before his season."
The analyst went on to say that he thinks if Parker has another big season, more big schools are going to get involved. Then things will get foggy for Nebraska football.
This will definitely be a situation to watch and see if the Huskers can get it done before September.
