Is it possible that an offensive line recruit the Nebraska football team thought it had lost out on is back in its crosshairs? The first domino has fallen for some good news for Matt Rhule and company in a week of pretty steady bad recruiting news.

Not long after an official visit to the Huskers that looked like it was just a formality before committing to NU, Brian Tapu committed to Oregon State instead. However, as it turns out, Tapu had some serious buyer’s remorse just days later.

Nebraska football has second chance at New Zealand OL target

On Wednesday night, Tapu took to social media to announce he was decommitting from the Beavers. And while he didn’t announce his new school yet, it feels as though the Nebraska football team has to be right at the top of the list of programs that could be the beneficiary.

It also appears that Tapu knows where he’s going, but it’s not Corvallis. His decommitment announcement wasn’t the usual comments about how he’s still considering OSU. Instead, it looks like he’s completely closed the door on playing for the Pac-2 program.

“I have de-committed from Oregon State,” Tapu wrote. “I wish nothing but the best for the coaches and family there. I am thankful for what you guys have done for me and my parents. I appreciate everything and hope nothing but the best for the coaches, players and your guys season.”

The New Zealand native later posted another message making it clear that some Oregon State fans didn’t take his decommitment well.

“Just gotta say it wasn’t for money or any kinda investment. Just a mistake and I’m still learning. Had a talk with one of the coaches which is a family member and he understands. Also leave my family alone. People dm me saying this and that. Talk to me in person.”

While OSU fans are not handling things remotely well, it is an open door for the Nebraska football team.
