The Nebraska football team has officially kicked off the most thrilling and anticipated time of the month on the recruiting front. This weekend, they’re hosting several big time prospects including one rather interesting international target in Brian Tupa.

The offensive lineman is still learning the sport but he’s already shown enough talent that Matt Rhule and company are quite hyped on the chances of landing him. In order to do so, they’re pulling out all the stops.

One of those unique and innovative tactics is doing something it appears other schools haven’t been able to pull off. And it could mean that the Cornhuskers are going to have a remarkable advantage with Tupa. It’s the kind of move that the 3-star prospect out of Utah is going to remember as he considers his possibilities.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, the 6-foot-7 offensive lineman from New Zealand, hasn't seen his parents since moving to the US to pursue football.

However, the Huskers ensured his parents would be there for Tapu's official visit this weekend. That really could be the game-changer.

Getting his parents to town is one big way to try and win over his recruiting. But the Huskers might have another in with Tapu.

That'd be Toniu Fonoti, the former Nebraska All-American and eight-year NFL player, who is coaching the O-line at the West program in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Tapu has also checked out the Huskers before. And he was impressed with what he saw. He’s on record as saying it was probably his top visit. And that was before Rhule had his family come up from New Zealand.

It’s pretty clear that the Nebraska football team wants Brian Tapu as part of its 2025 class. They’ve been working hard to get talented offensive linemen. One has to wonder if a commitment isn’t coming by Sunday.
