Nebraska football recruiting setback: LB target stays committed elsewhere
The Nebraska football football team wins some and it loses some. In the world of recruiting it's hardly a rarity when something doesn't go the way the coaches hoped. The phrase "them's the breaks" likely gets used plenty around Memorial stadium.
That doesn't diminish the disappointment when a target the Nebraska football team thought it was making inroads to fall through. One such target the Cornhuskers were spending a lot of time in trying to get to come to Lincoln was Minnesota linebacker commit Emmanuel Karmo.
Nebraska football loses its shot at pulling Minnesota commit to Huskers
Emmanuel Karmo is the state of Minnesota's top player and is a commit to the Golden Gophers. However, the consensus 4-star prospect had a bit of a roving eye over the last month. He might have decided he wanted to see if the grass was greener.
However, he ended up changing his mind. The Minnesota commit is going to stay a Minnesota commit. He announced on social media on Thursday that he is shutting his recruitment down and sticking with PJ Fleck and company.
"It's been a good week for me to reflect in the recruiting process & ask myself what is important & what I really want with my recruitment," Karmo wrote in a tweet. "I came to the conclusion & notified other schools that UofMN is where my heart is & I would not be taking other OVs- recruitment closed."
Previously, Karmo said that he was still committed to Minnesota but wanted to take visits. The 4-star linebacker planned to visit Wisconsin on May 31, Minnesota on June 7, Ohio State on June 14 and Nebraska on June 21. However, it appears he's had a change of heart and will stay at home.
For the Nebraska football team, it's a bit of a setback, but it's not as though the Huskers were guaranteed to pry Karmo away from the Gophers. Time to move on for the Huskers to their next target.
