Brian Tapu might just be the start of the offensive line commitments that the Nebraska football will have by the end of this weekend. There is at least one more prospect who could be pulling the trigger for the Huskers on Sunday June 30.

Houston Kaahaaina-Torres a three-star prospect from St. Louis High School in Honolulu, Hawaii will make that announcement. The lineman has said he will pick among his final four schools, which include Arizona State, Michigan State, Nebraska, and Utah.

There are a couple of reasons for Nebraska football fans to be a bit excited and optimistic. First off is that the Huskers have had recent success in the state of Hawaii. The Cornhuskers received the commitment of interior offensive lineman Preston Taumua, Hawaii’s No. 1 player for 2024 class.

Nebraska football could be in line for 3-star offensive lineman

The Huskers are already in rarified air considering how many teams were vying for the services of Houston Kaahaaina-Torres before he narrowed the teams he was considering down to four.

In addition to Nebraska, he’s got offers from the Utah Utes, Michigan State, Arizona State Sun Devils, BYU Cougars, Colorado Buffaloes, Georgia Bulldogs, Louisville Cardinals, Ole Miss Rebels, Oregon Ducks, Oregon State Beavers, Stanford Cardinal, Tennessee Volunteers, UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, and Washington Huskies among others.

It appears the lineman has been keeping who he will choose on Sunday close to his vest. While 247Sports does have one prediction that he’ll end up in Lincoln, analyst Mike Schaefer gave his pick just a 5 as far as confidence level.

On3 also gives the Huskers front runner status but also doesn’t have them leading the pack by all that much.

It is possible this is where the recent commitment of Tapu might come in handy. Kaahaaina-Torres could see the New Zealand prospect changing his mind and joining the Nebraska football program as a sign that he should do the same.
