Dylan Raiola hasn’t even been a member of the Nebraska football team for a calendar year, but he’s already put his own stamp on this particular Huskers team. He’s done that by showing that he can be a leader, on and off the field.

Certainly, his performance during the Red-White game was impressive enough that people got excited to see what he could do in a game that counts. But he’s also got the kind of personality that people want to see what he does when he’s not on the field.

It’s not just fans either. There are plenty of Nebraska football teammates who might have gone out of their way to see just what kind of a teammate Raiola was going to be. It appears that he’s checked off all the boxes for someone that his fellow Huskers will have no problem following.

The Athletic’s Mitch Sherman has one story that is so entertaining about how Raiola interacted with his teammates this summer that it’s free and open for all to read. It’s one heck of a read as well.

One of the biggest highlights when Raiola and his offensive line, each one of them 310 pounds or heavier, decided to go hit the town and get a meal. They all gathered at Isles Pub and Pizza, the favorite Lincoln spot of junior left tackle Teddy Prochazka. The lineman made it clear that they didn’t worry about saving their quarterback any money.

“We kinda ran up the bill a little bit,” Prochazka told Sherman.

Several pizzas and 12 baskets of wings later, it’s said that Raiola sat and enjoyed the bond that was forming with his teammates as the Nebraska football team looks for its first winning season since 2016.
