Nebraska loses 4-star WR to Colorado, possibly igniting recruiting reset
There’s really no denying that July has been a tough month, recruiting-wise for the Nebraska football program so far. At the end of last week, the Huskers lost out on a safety prospect many thought they were the easy front runners.
On Saturday, the Cornhuskers lost out on a wide receiver prospect they were hoping to steal away from Colorado. While their odds for that win weren’t as high, it’s especially painful that Matt Rhule lost the battle for Quanell X Farrakhan to “Coach Prime.”
Nebraska football now has to hit reset on another top target who had at least shown interest in NU in the recent past. The one piece fo solace here appears to be that Rhule and his staff didn’t think they had established much of a foothold with Farrakhan.
Nebraska football loses out on 4-star receiver to familiar foe
The 4-star receiver talked about why he committed to Colorado with On3’s Steve Wiltfong and it’s clear the Buffs offered a solid sales job.
“Being part of what Coach Sanders has going on,” he said. “I feel like he has the potential to bring in key pieces he needs to go to a National Championship. I feel like me being part of that I can be part of something special.”
The Nebraska football team now has to hit reset again. Recruiting efforts have had them in the running with quite a few of their top targets. However, they haven’t won many battles of late.
The good news here is that the Huskers have some time before signing day. Farrakhan is going to be able to see just how close Colorado is to a National Championship this fall.
He’ll also get a look at where Matt Rhule has the Nebraska football program headed. And he might be surprised which school is in a better spot.
