If there’s a team not named Penn State that ends up nabbing 4-star wide receiver Quanell Farrakhan Jr., there is a slim chance that it could be either the Nebraska football team or the Colorado Buffaloes. And that means that once again, Matt Rhule and Deion Sanders are facing off in the recruiting arena on more time.

Farrakhan is the 36th-ranked wide receiver in the 2025 class and the 43rd-ranked player in the state of Texas. And the 6-foot-0 pass catcher has offers from the best teams in the country.

The North Shore High prospect is someone who has been taking quite a few visits recently, trying to narrow down the list of programs that are still vying for his services. In the process he’s visited Lincoln and had nice things to say about Nebraska football and Boulder where he also had some very nice things to say about the Buffaloes.

This recruiting rivalry between Sanders and Rhule is one that’s been a bit surprising simply because the two programs weren’t fighting for recruits all that often in the recent past. Interestingly enough the wide receiver position has been one area where they’ve faced off over and over.

Omarion Miller is one player the Huskers thought they had wrapped up. Then he went to Colorado. Meanwhile, Malachi Coleman was a player from Lincoln that the Buffs thought they could sneak away. Turns out he committed to the Huskers.

Now they’re facing off against Farrakhan who certainly liked what he saw from Colorado in his recent visit.

“I loved it in Colorado,” Farrakhan said. “They made me feel like I was at home and I believe that they could get me to the next level.”

For now the Nittany Lions are still the front runners. But it looks like some other schools are making inroads. And Nebraska football wants to be one of those teams.
