As the Nebraska football kickoff countdown continues, we’re just 69 nice days away from the Huskers’ game against UTEP. That means today’s focus on a player features number 69, Turner Corcoran. The offensive lineman is one who is going to have a pretty massive impact on just how good Matt Rhule and company are this season.

Corcoran also has something to prove in 2024 as he missed about half of his first season with Matt Rhule. That’s just one of the reasons he could be a big contributor in 2024.

Corcoran started the first seven games for the Nebraska football team at left tackle in 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury. He was injured during the Northwestern game, which marked his 30th consecutive start. Before he got hurt, he helped the Huskers formulate the No. 2 ranked rushing offense in the Big Ten.

While there was definitely room for improvement for Corcoran last season, it was his best performance of his career according to PFF. He posted a 54.3 overall rating and just over 60 for the run block. Those were massive improvements over his 2022 numbers.

In his sophomore year, the soon to be senior posted just a 32.7 and a 46 in those categories. Despite those struggles, Corcoran started every game in 2022, extending his streak to 23 consecutive starts. He started the first three games at left guard before starting the final nine games at left tackle.

This season, he will once again be manning the left tackle position with the expectation that he can continue to improve after a rough start to his Nebraska football career. Of course, he’ll need to actually be ready to go this fall in order to do that. Turner Corcoran missed spring practice still recovering from his in-season injury.
