Nebraska football trying to hold off Longhorns for 3-star lineman

When it comes to John Mills, it appears that Texas is in the driver's seat, but the Nebraska football team may be closer than it appears.

While Nebrasketball is getting all the attention this month, one should not think that Matt Rhule and the rest of the Nebraska football coaches are taking it easy. In fact, it appears that recruiting efforts are starting to ramp up ahead of spring practice starting.

Those ramped up efforts appear to be paying off when it comes to one monster offensive lineman out of California. John Hill, a 6-foot-5, 290 pound interior lineman with St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco just announced his “Final Six.”

The Nebraska football team, along with Texas, USC, Washington, Florida, Cal, and Washington are the last programs standing. Now it’s time for Rhule and his coaching staff to work their magic and find a way to get mills to call Lincoln his home for the foreseeable future.

The good news is that the Nebraska football team seems to have legitimately gotten the attention of Mills. At the same time he made it clear that he’s going to take an unofficial visit to Lincoln on April 9. It doesn’t appear that will be the end of it either.

The offensive lineman has said that he plans on getting an official to Nebraska in the near future. Just when is still up in the air.

Nebraska football has to hold off Texas if it wants to win battle of John Mills

While the Huskers are hanging tough, it appears they have a climb ahead of them in order to get a commitment from the 2025 prospect. According to On3, Texas is not only the front runner, but a team that has already run away with it.

The site believes the Longhorns have a 92 percent chance of getting the commitment of John Mills.

Nebraska football fans can take some solace amid that prediction. The site believes that Michigan is the second most likely landing spot. The Wolverines did not make his latest cut. That could hint that John Mills is thinking outside the box these days.
